Bio: Jeannes
first career was as a special education teacher in Michigan.
After moving to San Diego in 1973, she completed accounting
and business classes at the graduate level at San Diego State
University. Three years of accounting experience with a large
international firm convinced her that she wanted to work in
a smaller practice, more conducive to personal service and
care. She joined Ed Gergurich in 1979, having received her
CPA license, and soon became a partner in their firm, Gergurich
and Max. (Following Eds death in April 2003, the name
of the firm was changed to Jeanne Max and Associates.)
Jeanne has integrated her teaching experience
into her accounting career by teaching accounting seminars
for SCORE (SBA workshops). She is a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the California
Society of Certified Public Accountants, Active Corps division
of the Service Corps of Retired Executives (ACE), and the
Tax Division of the AICPA.
Jeanne has a daughter
who teaches English in Kochi, Japan and a son who
is a college student. She enjoys
reading, walking her dog at Mission Trails, browsing
antique stores, and always has a jigsaw puzzle in progress.
